    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Roth Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HJEBAIB/441.1 Message Board Post: The David Roth you mention was my great-grandfather. His brother, Leonard Roth migrated to Illinois around 1834. David, his mother, Mary Roth, and brother, Solomon migrated from New York to Bureau County in the 1840s. He had another brother, Hiram, but I've found no mention of him in Illinois. There, they purchased Federal lands and settled in LaMoilles, Illinois. Most of David Roth's children, including my grandfather, Charles, were born there. They eventually moved (I think in the 1870s) to Hinsdale, IL in DuPage County, where many are buried. My grandfather settled in South Dakota where he farmed and raised a family. He died in 1917 when my father was six. I have lots of information on David's descendants but very little on his parents, Edward and Mary.

His brother, Leonard, was the first to migrate to Illinois around 1834. David came out to Illinois from New York with his mother, Mary, and brother, Solomon and began purchasing land in the mid-1840s. Both David and Leonard married in Bureau County. Most of the family settled in LaMoilles, Illinois and most of David's children, including my grandfather, Charles, were born there. David Roth eventually moved to Hinsdale, IL in the 1870's.
