    3. New to this List, main line of study is in the Orkney Islands off the northern tip of Scotland. A man who was born there in about 1856 named John HALCRO married Jane MORRISON in Milton, Glasgow in 1880. Jane was shown in the Marriage Register as being the 20 year old daughter of Donald MORRISON and Catherine McDONALD. Her home parish was listed as Stornoway. Jane and John had a dismal marriage, a son was born in Milton, Glasgow named John HALCRO after his father. The father was sent off to Demerra, West Indies and died 12 October, 1881 of Yellow Fever. Jane was next seen as being imprisoned for 14 days for theft of a blanket. This is from the Poor Rolls for the son....John HALCRO now 5 years old and seems to have been cared for at the 'Northern Police Offices' in Glasgow. There are notes on Jane's family written in October of 1885 on the Poor Roll application that Jane MORRISON was ......"Daughter of Donald Morrison, Crofter who went to America 3 weeks ago and Catherine McDonald, dead. The child, John HALCRO does not survive much longer, as records show a John HALCRO age 5 died in Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire in 1886. Anyone researching this MORRISON line ? I have the entire 'Application for Relief". The application notes that 'Notices' were sent to Glasgow, Paisley, Abbey, Eastwood, Cathcart, Neilston, Edinburgh, St Cutberts, North & South Leith, Evie & Rendall, Birsay, Harray, Sandwick, Stromness, Firth & Stennes, Orphir, Kirkwall, Stornoway, Barvas & Cross? and also to Lochs. The widow, Jane HALCRO or MORRISON had married a second time to a much older man, a Captain McKENZIE of England before her imprisonment. Glad to discuss details with any MORRISON researchers.....
