    3. Hi Margaret, It was a little unclear from your email how the family fitted together and who was who! I can how ever help you with Hector McDonald who married Ann McKenzie 23rd February 1836 [on IGI] and had the following children Isabella born 13th May 1839 christened 23rd May 1839 [IGI Batch No C110582] and John. They were living at Ardislaig in the 1841 census. Hector was listed as 35 and Ann as 30 [of course may be a little older as 1841 census rounds] and Isabella was 2. Hector was listed as a merchant seaman. In 1841 Hector and Ann had a second child John born 28th July, christened 29th August [IGI Batch No C110582] By getting out the film of the Applecross parish register through the Family History Centres of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, you could actually look up these entries and may get extra information...like Hector's and Ann's parents /fathers. The Shieldaig part of the register is separated in the Applecross register and so is Kishorn, but I can't remember if Ardislaig is with Shieldaig or Applecross main. Iain McLennan and I have done quite a bit of research on the Applecross peninsula and Iain still has property in Shieldaig. How does Hector's family fit into your line? When did they come to NZ? Are they linked to the Waipu settlers from Canada and Applecross?
