Hi Listers, I am researching my line of McRae's from Kintail and would be delighted to hear from anyone descended from this line or in fact anyone with any information. The furthest back that I have got so far is my 3 x Great Grandparents - Farquhar and Catherine McRae. I have a possible father for Farquhar - Duncan - but am not certain. Farquhar was born in Rurach ?, Kintail about 1791. They had a son, Ewen born 20/2/1828 in Kintail. According to the 1851 Census, their children - Mary, Duncan, Ewen, John, Jane, Thomas and Donald were all born in Kintail but by this time they were living on Camusunary Farm, Inverness. Ewen married Jessie McRae in Kintail on 1/3/1860. Her parents were Malcolm and Mary McRae who married in Kintail on 11/6/1839 at Kintail. Ewen and Jessie's son, Farquhar (my great grandfather) was born 21/4/1860 in Glensheil but the rest of their children (Flora, Alexander, John, Ann, Peter, Donald, Bella and Helen were all born in Kilmonivaig, Inverness. By 1891 the Census place's them at Lochournhead, Glenelg.
