Hello, This is my first time on the list so apologies in advance for any breaches of general etiquette!. I'm searching back my wifes history and looking for details on Alexander THAYNE(b around 1761). I believe he married Isobel HOOD. His son's (Donald) birth, marriage and death certificates all quote Tain as the place name. Is this in the Ross & Cromarty area? I was born in England and live in Australia so I'm a bit unfamiliar with the territory. His son Donald lived 1787 to 1860. I haven't been able to find any details on the census so far - any feedback would be great if possible. Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Phil Taylor Sydney, Australia
