Hello all, pressures of work have kept me from much genealogy over the last year, giving me a large file of unanswered emails, sigh... but took a stab yesterday at a few files on my webpage which includes annotated transcriptions of most of the 19th century Coigach censuses... see http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~coigach Lochbroom OPR has 12 March 1830 Hector MacKenzie Isle Ristol married to Jannet McDonald, Reiff. My own ancestors included the Reiff MacDonald family, and I always felt Janet was likely a sister of my gt-gt-grandfather, Donald McDonald, child of John MacDonald and Ketty ("Catherine") MacLeod. Hector and Janet with three children were I think in the 1841 census close to Ristol at Polbain 41-5 (transcription on webpage), and missing after that, always thought they probably emigrated.... Found on the IGI and the other on-line Mormon databases two more children, born Lochbroom 1842 and 1844, then the family looks to have moved to Balintore Fearn, I have yet to consult 1851 and later censuses for there.... Hector seems to have died at Balintore, Fearn, 1890, and Janet there 1885. his parents as Roderick and Margaret (m.s. also MacKenzie), and hers as John MacDonald and Ann m.s. MacLeod (forename of Ann does not agree with "my" John's wife Ketty,... probably a mistake by the Informant) Submitted info in the Mormon site follows descent of Hector and Janet's first child Murdoch (born 1831-2 Lochbroom, died 21 April 1912 at Balintore). Ten children are listed born at Balintore from 1855 to 1874 to Murdo and his wife Davidina Ross. Second child of Murdo and Davidina was another Hector, born 1857 at Balintore, married 1885 at Tain to Catherine Urquhart (b. Nigg) with three named children from 1885 to 1891, first two at Broomhill Kilmuir-Easter, third at Balvaird, Urquhart. Death of Catherine 1903 at Broomhill, Hector 1922 at Balvaird. From Broomhill the family seems to have drifted to Invergordon, Hector's first child Murdoch married Rosanna Ball and had five children there, and his brother David died there 1957. Murdo and Rosanna's children all born Invergordon, death dates but not places listed, were; Catharine, b.1905, d.10 October 1989 Janet, b.1906, d.30 May 1927 Murdo, b.July 1912, d.1 January 1933 David, b.14 February 1987 Hector, b.22 January 1916, died 14 May 1989 All the best from the brink of Niagara, Donald.
