An even more off-topic footnote. I once walked from Stornoway (in Lewis for our friends overseas) to Callanish on a walking tour of the Western Isles. Outside the town, for a couple of miles, on either side of the road, were thousands upon thousands of empty whisky (half) bottles which had been tossed out of passing cars. It was an amazing sight - a solid glass super-highway. Recycling had obviously not caught on, but I had the feeling that the drivers were getting rid of the evidence. Lachie
