I'm looking for information on Donald McRae supposedly born in 1816, probably in the Parish of Kincardine in Ross and Cromarty. His parents apparently were Alexander McRae (born 1792 Parish of Kincardine) and Isabella Gibson (born 1789 Parish of Nigg). These two were married in the Parish of Nigg, R & C in 1814. Alexander's name was spelled the unusual way of McKrae at the time of his marriage. I'd be interested as well in the parentage of Alexander & Isabella. Alexander & Isabella died in Grand Anse, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia in 1868 & 1876, respectively. Their firstborn, Donald married Margaret MacKay in St George's Channel in 1844. Sometime between 1814 and 1844 this family arrived in Cape Breton. I don't know when or how and would love to know. Donald did have siblings, Alexander, Isabella, Christy, William, George & Philip, all born by 1833 (whether in Scotland or Nova Scotia I don't yet know). I'd appreciate any info anyone might have or suggestions on where to look. Thank you very much.
