    1. [RossGen] McKenzies and McIntoshs of Knockbain
    2. Ron McKenzie
    3. Dear List Members, I am looking for a family of McKenzies living in the Knockbain area at the turn of the 18th/19th century. Specifically,Donald McKenzie born about 1802 to parents Donald McKenzie and Jessie McIntosh, who were crofters at Knockbain. This information was obtained from death records . There are no entries that I can find in the OPR for the marriage of Donald and Jessie or for the birth of their son Donald. It is believed that there was at least one other child to this family, John, born 1812-13. Donald junior became a seaman working in the "Atalanta",an excise cutter in the Inverness area. He died as an Excise Pensioner in Inverness in 1865. He married Jessie Paterson from Grantown parish,R and C, in 1831. They produced the following family,Donald at Inverness 1831,Johanna at Kilmorack 1834,John at Kilmorack 1837,Peter at Urquhart 1839 and Isobella at Boleskin 1841. Jessie Paterson was the daughter of John Paterson, ship`s pilot, and Isobella McIntosh who had a large family all born in Grantown parish,Knockbain. She was born around 1805. The other son of Donald McKenzie (senior) and Jessie McIntosh was named John and was born 1812-13. His birth is also not listed in OPR`s. John trained as a ship`s carpenter and migrated to Australia in 1838 where he remained. If anyone has any information on the above family would you please contact me. Thank you Ron
