Hi, I am planning a trip next summer to Ullapool - can someone tell me where the musuem is? I have discovered that some of my McKENZIE ancestors were from there. I found (in the 1851 census) Alexander (b. Urray, 1823, s/o John) and wfie Catherine (b. 1823, Ullapool, s/o John McKENZIE) with their 2 young children, his brother John, plus James MUNRO (listed as app. tailor-same as John, Alex. was also tailor). Alex. and brother and children moved to Ontario, CAN in 1857 and I have the history from there. I also have Alexander McDONALD (b. Glengarry, CAN abt 1811). I believe his father was from SCT but I have not been able to make the connection. Another ancestor Norman McLEOD was prob. born (abt 1757) in SCT, married and have several small children. Supposedly his wife died and he left for US with the children, where he remarried and I first find him in Ohio (Gallia cty). His dgt Mary Jane was b. abt 1795 in what became Gallia cty. I have no idea where he entered US. Someone told me his wife's name was Nancy and that they probably married in Greenbrier cty, VA (no source).
