Hello Sandra, can't help with the census, but the placename is almost certainly Braemore. As a gardener your Alexander could have worked at Braemore House, sometimes called Braemore Castle, built by Sir John Fowler in 1867. He was a consulting engineer and co-designed the Forth Bridge.
