Hello Maureen, I have one tiny reference to the name, MacCALMAN. My GG Grandfather, Ewen MacMILLAN was born 28 Feb. 1824, in Lochcarron, the son of Archibald MacMILLAN & Mary MURCHISON. This couple also had three daughters born in Applecross between 1814-1820. The interesting thing is that when Archibald died in 1855, it was stated that he was the widower of Mary MacCALMAN! I have been advised that the names MacCalman and Murchison are interchangeable. Whether or not this is really so, I cannot be sure. Perhaps someone on this list knows something about this. Dear Listers, My wonderful help Elizabeth has sent me what could be my elusive Alexander McLennan and he and Margaret Mc Calman had a son Duncan January 23 1838 at Corry and a daughter named Mary on August24 1840 at Maligin. Elizabeth found these records on OPR Applecross. Has anyone heard the name McCalman for a surname or a place called Maligin please.
