No response last time so I shall try again. My gggrandparents were James HALL(1795-1864) and Isabella LAWRENCE (1799-1865) who moved from Limekilns in Fife to Rosskeen in Ross and Cromarty between 1836 and 1841. He built a substantial house and a pier at Belleport where he operated his business as a shipowner. His son followed him in the business but the house was unoccupied at the 1891 census. Presumably the coming of the railway made ships unprofitable. They probably traded with Baltic ports as well as with Fife and Sunderland. I haven't found any trace of descendants in the area but James and Isabella had a family of ten, and one of their sons had a family of fifteen. From the gravestone and surrounding markers there are references to: o Wilson HALL (1874-1937), his wife Catherine MURRAY (1884-1967) and their children John, Isa and Billy o Roderick CORBETT (1886-1974) and his wife Isabella H. HALL. Any connections? Alan Cairnie Perth, Ontario
