    3. Hello Everyone Can anyone tell me where in relationship to Edderton and Tain is a place called Glenshiel? Would it be close? I am still trying to find my William MacKay born abt 1808 in Edderton, I found one in Glenshiel in 1808, fathers name was John MacKay no mother's name. Also is it possible that my William could have been born in Tain or another border village even though the OPR and census returns state he was born in Edderton. I know, this is called grasping at straws but I am running low on idea's. Thank You Robin ________________________________________________________________ Nokia 5510 looks weird sounds great. 3. Hi I have much the same problem as Robin. And with a Mackay/McKay etc spellings. In this case Alexander and his wife Johanna. The 1881 census has them at Lairg in Tain with both recorded as born in Tain. The 1891 image has them at 'Lairg House' in Tain, next to (I assume) 'Culpleasant House' and 'Quarryhill House'. But this one has Johan (as she has become) as born at Edderton. Their son James emigrated to Australia in 1876 with sister Jessie (or Janet of whom I have no traces in Scotland) and named everything he owned (house, farm, butchery and slaughterhouse) Edderton. Where oh where did they live in relation say to Tain or Edderton. A sister suggests in the Lairgs of Tain but with only the evidence above. Like Robin I've run out of straws.
