    3. Can anyone help. I am trying to find details of Margaret Henderson's marriage to John Vass of Logie Easter, Ross & Cromarty. I have checked the IGI and the GRO for Scotland for the period 1839 to 1846 but can find no record of this marriage. The couple had a son Walter George Vass born in Fearn Ross & Cromarty in 1847. Jenny: Not sure about this but I am wondering if the Free Church Records between 1843 when the church was started and compulsory registration in the 1850's when the GRO should have the records, may account for some missing records. Will post a question to that effect on the list. Might as well do it here! Can anybody tell me if the Free Church records from 1843 until compulsory registration about a decade later, are given on the IGI, or is this a gap that hasn't yet been made available on the internet? Hi - In case you didn't know, on the 1881 Census CDs everyone who was born in Sutherland, Scotland has their birth place listed as 'Sunderland, Durham, England' - so the Margaret VASS's birthplace is probably Sutherland, Scotland. Someone made a tpypo error and it stuck. This was on the first set which were sold. It could have been corrected by now.
