    2. Hello- I am looking for information on a Thomas MacDonald, who had, at the very least, Thomas, Alexander, and Christina. Here is what I know, so far= - I am quoting from a little booklet their son wrote as to information on Alexander MacDonald and his wife, Christina MacKenzie. I hope this isn't too long= "Glen Strathpeffer is a beautiful glen in the Highlands of Scotland, twenty miles north of Inverness. It is noted for its deer forests, fishing streams and sturdy men. Here, at a place called Deanie, Alexander McDonald was born in the year 1824. His parents were well known and highly respected in the glen. Two years later the family removed to Farley, in the parish of Kilmorack. Here the boy grew up and was trained for the battle of life. His father was known as Thomas McDonald, of Farley. There are few in the highlands of Inverness-shire but have heard of him. He was a man of integrity and of honour. He served for many years as an elder in the Parish Church, Kilmorack. During the stirring times of the Disruption he stood by his minister and never left the establishment, although all his sons joined the Free Church and worshiped regularly at Balblair....my short story has to do with Alexander, the second son in this remarkable man’s family....He was later employed by Mr. Sutherland, of Balblair, in the Parish of Knockbain, whom he served for years. Here he was particularly happy. The farm Is beautifully situated, sloping back towards the ridge that runs along the Black Isle. It looks out towards the Beauly Firth, while in the valley below is the village of Munlochy." "Christina McKenzie was born in Dingwall, RossShire, in the year 1835. Her mother was a member of an old and highly respected Dingwall family. Her father belonged to Plockton, Lochalsh. In her third year her parents removed to Muir- of-Highfield, in the Parish of Ferrintosh....In her seventeenth year she took up a position with Mr. Sutherland of Balblair, in the Parish of Knockbain." "In 1853 Alexander McDonald and Christina McKenzie were married in the Reception Room of the Public inn at Conon-bridge, by the Rev. M. McGregor, M.A., Free Church minister, Ferrintosh. The ceremony was conducted in Gaelic, a language with which all present were familiar....bridegroom’s eldest brother, Thomas, was the life of the party....his sister Christina, the finest exponent of Gaelic songs in the Highlands, gladdened the hearts of all by her magnificent rendering of old and familiar Gaelic songs....party left, wended their way, four abreast, along the beautiful Conon Road, headed by blind Donald the piper, till they reached the “Lodge”, where they turned in to Muir-of- Highfield, to the bride’s father’s residence...For several years they lived in different parts of Beauly district, Balmaddy, Cnoc-Coille, Curryglen, Mul-na- geap, and Breakachy."
