    1. Easter Suddie is Suddie Burial Ground?
    2. Cas and LISA Liber (& family)
    3. Hi all, while looking at a map of the Black Isle - my ancestors lived at Strath of Auchterflow, which would appear to be Northwest of Avoch. I also noticed on the multimap that it was close to a place called Easter Suddie with a disused church. i s this the Suddie whic has been transcribed? Also on another website it says this fell into disuse in 1762, does that mean no-one was buried there after this date? If so this is too early for me at this stage though I have noticed some McLennans and bains buried there. Cas

    2. Cas and LISA Liber (& family)
    3. Hi, I am a bit stuck as I have a John McLennan b. 21 February 1792 in Strath of Auchterflow (little village or farm near Avoch). Now I have his parents as a William McLennan and Margaret Bain but when I checked the original OPR scanned by the LDS there is a large chunk missing for the latter part of the 18th century. This would have encompassed the possible time of marriage of William McLennan and Margaret Bain On John's wedding entry, he is a labourer. The couple were to settle in Strath. He remained a labourer for a few years but became a shoemaker sometime before 1822. In 1827 he was a shoemaker, but in 1829 he was a labourer again. He is described as a tenant in Strath in Auchterflow in 1831 and 1837. After 1841 the family moves to Aberdeen. His wife Grace Macaulay/McAnley came from Lochbroom daughter of an Angus McAnley and Isabella Mackenzie I got the Memorial Inscription book for Avoch cemetery but no luck there. Is there another cemetery near strath of auxchterflow the other way? Any ideas where to look for more info on William Mclennan/Margaret Bain? Given the minimum info on death records I was wondering.. Are/were these in Kiltearn Parish or in Dingwall Parish, anyone? The only other Clyne I could find in the area was Brora, a long way to the north. 3. Hi Listers! Can anyone help please? Some of my McDonalds hailed from Meikle Clyne in ROC and I have been trying to find out its location. This name appears in the OPR's for Kiltearn Book 2. I haven't succeeded with the old maps on the website of National Library of Scotland despite various attempts and sometimes have difficulty with the old maps dot co UK site. Kiltearn is a much larger area than I had thought. According to the first Statistical Account for Scotland: "It is bounded by Alness in the East, Contin and Loch Broom in the North, Dingwall and Foderty in the West and Cromarty Bay in the South." Does anyone know where this place is? Also can anyone advise what other sources are available to find this type of info as I have a few others to find. I'd like to visit some of these places when I go North shortly. TIA Anne ___________________________________________________________ Yahoo! 1. Rosskeen Munros/1851 Census
    2. Don Munro
    3. I have hit my brick wall with Donald Munro who married Catherine Dingwall in 1831 in Rosskeen. I do not know who his parents were as his marriage record is just a one line entry & I cannot find a death record. He appears in the Rosskeen 1851 census as aged 45, born Rosskeen but does not appear in 1861, so he was either dead or working away from home. Certainly he had died by the time his son Donald married in 1868. I have one clue. In the 1851 census, one of his children is missing, so there is a possibility that she was with her grandparents or an aunt or uncle. I no longer have access to the 1851 census, so if you do have access could you please see if you can find Catherine Munro aged 10, born in Rosskeen & shown as a granddaughter or a niece, I would be most grateful. With my luck she will be with her Dingwall grandparents! Any suggestions appreciated Don Munro

    1. STEWART - Lochbroom - 1881 or earlier, census returns request

    3. Hello, Please excuse me if this email comes through twice - I have had problems with the server. I have once again made an effort to try to track down some Scottie ancestors, and I am hoping that someone could assist me. All I know about Alexanderina (Stewart) McLeod's parents is the following. Murdoch STEWART married Janet (Jessie) McLean 3 Feb 1842 in Lochbroom. Alexanderina Stewart, (born 1842-ish Lochbroom) their daughter - there may be other children that I don't know about as yet - was married 23 Jun 1863 in Dounie, Kincardine Parish, Ross-shire, to Alexander McLEOD. At this time, Murdoch Stewart was listed as a tenant farmer on her marriage certificate. Alexanderina was stated as saying that she resided in Hill of Ardgay in 1863, at the time of her marriage. So my BIG ask - would it be possible, if it is easy to do so, if this couple could be looked up in census returns - 1851,1861,1871...or later.??? This would be truly truly appreciated! Many thanks for reading this. Regards, Suzanne Irvine Brisbane, Australia.
