If you look on a motoring atlas, the town of Evanton is in Kiltearn parish. I don't think we're connected - my McKenzie was Andrew McKenzie born 9 May 1830, son of Donald McKenzie shoemaker at Evanton and Mary Potter. Best of luck. Sheena

There are quite a few of them listed on Griffiths Valuation. Does anyone know the history of this relocation? Are there published Ross-shire cemetery or census reports available for US researchers? I'm specifically researching Robert Gillander b. 1801 Co. Monaghan, Ireland and trying to find his parents and when his family went to Ireland from Scotland. Any help is most appreciated. His wife's name was Jane (?) and children were: Emiline, Ellen & Stewart Albert (children b. in NY). Beverly Pinehurst, NC

I am trying to trace my g.grandfather-in-law,ALEXANDER MCKAY,b.circa 1800 Scotland, don`t know where exactly, I think either Edinburgh or Glasgow areas. Transported to Tasmania 1823/4 on Sir Godfrey Webster. Married there and his children named;Mary Ann, Charles, Catherine,Agnes, Charlotte, Alexander, Donald & Angus. Scots name the first son after the fathers father so his father could be Charles. However this name is not carried on in future generations. Mary Ann, Agnes, Donald & Alexander are. 1. MCLEAN
    2. Thought I'd check to see if anyone has links to the following family: William MCLEAN, from Inverness-shire, arrived in Pictou Harbor on the ship the Sarah in 1801, at the age of 11 (b. 1790). Later married Margaret CHISHOLM, daughter of Donald and Elizabeth Chisholm of East River, Pictou. Marriage date March 8, 1814 by Rev. Jas. McGregor. William's parents were Donald and Mary McLean of Inverness-shire (Kilmorach we believe). William and Margaret had 8 children: William (b. 1815) married Catherine McDonald Elizabeth (b. 1817) married William Polson John M. (b. 1821) married Lydia Balcom Daniel (b. 1823) married Lydia Fraser Mary (b. between 1824-1830) married Edward McLeod Margaret (b. 1830) married George McLeod Alpine (b. ???) married twice Helen Foster, then Grace Snow. The McLeans lived in the New Glasgow area for about 100 years, had farms on Fraser Mountain. Anyone having connections to this family, please respond by email. Also, want to recommend again Joyce Stewart as a very thorough and detailed researcher. She's wonderful - thank you Joyce! Her email: [email protected] Thanks, Rob and Dianne McLean
