    1. Alexander MACINTOSH - Shielding - late 1700's
    2. Flora MacDonald
    3. Hi everyone! I am new to this forum and anxious to share and learn more about my family ancestry. One of my g-g-g-g-grandfathers was an Alexander MacIntosh from Shielding near Apple Cross in Rosshire. He emigrated to Nova Scotia , Canada in 1815. I assume he was therefore born sometime in the late 1700's. Can anyone help me to make a connection to him and other relations in Scotland? Thanks in advance Flora MacDonald

    1. Fraser/MacKenzie/Cameron
    2. Jan Moon
    3. Hello all I am looking for Frasers and Camerons somewhere in Ross shire, specifically a James Fraser who married a Barbara Cameron. They had a child Ann Fraser who was apparently born in 1803. I know nothing else about them except that they may have emigrated to Nova Scotia, or Ann may have married Alexander MacKenzie in Inverness. All I really know for a certainty was they, Alexander and Ann were in Boularderie, Nova Scotia by the 1830's and stayed there until 1857 when they emigrated to New Zealand. Alexander was born in Melvaig, he was the son of Duncan MacKenzie, Weaver of Melvaig and Janet (Jennet MacDonald). Does anyone perchance have any of these people in their trees? 3. Hello Colin, A suggestion for going forward is to check the 1861 and 1871 Census for the children of Hugh and Helen. Then you could obtain the birth certificates for these children. To go backwards, you would need to check the respective parishes for the parents of Hugh and Helen to get their marriage dates and then go forward on the Parish Registers to find their other children. Hope you have a Family History Center near you to help you in your quest. Marion [email protected] wrote: > Hi everyone, > > Can anyone suggest a way forward (or backward). 2. Allen Bain
    3. Hi to all, I am researching my GGGrandfather, Henry (Harry) Bain, b. 6 Sep 1808 in Kiltearn,Ross-shire,Scotland. I have a problem, and I hope that someone can help me with it. On his death certificate, it states that his Father (my GGGGrandfather) was William Bain b. abt 1764 in Balnaloch,Urquhart,R&C,Scotland. His Mother is stated to be Kathryn McKenzie b. 11 abt 1768 in Urquhart & Logie Wester, Ross-shire,Scotland. They were married 11 Dec 1789 in Balnaloch. Further checking indicates that his Father was William Bain, but that his Mother was Isobell Urquhart. They were married 16 Mar 1792, in Kiltearn. Would someone be so kind as to see which of these is correct, and also to advise about siblings, etc. I would be very appreciative of any and all effort expended. Thank you in advance, Allen S. 3. I am researching FOGGO, in Roxburgh and Berwick and realise that there are FOGGO families further north in Midlothian and East Lothian but have not been able to make any connections. However, my FOGGO family must have come from somewhere! I am relying heavily on family 'stories' and a very few facts. My grandmother was Mary Rae Foggo b. Kelso 4th July 1872 and d.Berwick-upon-Tweed 1964. 1.FOGGO William m. Jean Allen 12th Feb. 1810 2. FOGGO William b. 1811 at Melrose Rox. 2. FOGGO Ann b. 1813 at Bowden Rox. 3.FOGGO Elizabeth b. 1848 at Smailholm Rox.(married James WALKER 1883) in Kelso. 4.FOGGO Mary Rae b. 1872 at Kelso (married William Skelly 1896in Kelso) 4.FOGGO Ann b.1879 at Kelso (married and went to live in Canada) 2.FOGGO Cecilia b. 1815 2.FOGGO Jane b. 1816 Since Ann of Bowden and Elizabeth of Smailholm were both unmarried at the time of their daughter's birth, there is no male line to follow, making things difficult. I have plenty of FOGGO lines belonging to other people but no apparent links. Does this family look familiar to you? I am in touch with NZ FOGGOs who come from further north but they are unable to trace back very far. Regards, Patricia Taylor.
