    3. Dear Jean, I am very interested in the source of the rumor about Hewitt being an illigitimate son of George & where or how you discovered it ? I have not discovered that rumor in all the 40+ years that I have been researching. It certainly could open up possiblities to some roadblocks. I descend from the ROSS family of Sussex County, Northwest Fork Hundred. The parents used to repeat the same first names so many times for their children that it has driven me mad, trying to research my family. My grandfather was George ROSS, b 1867 in Illinois & he is the only one by that name all the way back in my family to the early 1700's. I have always wondered why he was given that name particularly since he was the only one that had it. The only one that I ever knew with that first name was the signer, but I could not find a connection. I am interested in your response. Best regards & very curious, Kathy krosswards@verizon.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jean Masco" <JMasco@babayaga.org> To: <ross@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 06, 2006 5:27 AM Subject: [ROSS] Hewitt ROSS, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho > Hello, > > I am interested in hearing from anyone researching the lineage of > Hewitt ROSS, reportedly illegitimate son of George ROSS, signer of the > Declaration of Independence or George's son David. 3. Hi Kathy, It is a puzzling develoment. In a recent conversation with a distant cousin also involved in research on this family I was told that Hewitt/Huitt was the son of either George or of George's son David. I was not taking notes and heard so many details I'm not clear on exactly what it was. He is mailing me the details. I told him I was very sceptical of a connection with that ROSS family for many reasons, so am hoping someone will have information that will clear up this confusion. Will update you when I get more information. Best wishes, and curious as well, Jean On 11/7/06, KR EDWARDS <krosswards@verizon.net> wrote: > Dear Jean, > I am very interested in the source of the rumor about Hewitt being an > illigitimate son of George & where or how you discovered it ? > > I have not discovered that rumor in all the 40+ years that I have been > researching.
