Posted on: Ross Family Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Ross/595 Surname: Rofs, Ross, Jolinsat ------------------------- Hi Lois, I'm interested that you have written Rofs/Ross. I've been researching a Martin August Christian Albert Ross c.1838 Holtstein, Denmark. I originally thought his surname was Rofs because of the way it was written on his marriage certificate. I though they must have changed there name to Ross by the mid 1800's. I've since had someone tell me the old fashion writing for 'ss'looked liked 'fs'. Your thoughts? My Martin ACA Ross' parents were Christian Rofs/Ross and Margaret Jolinsat? I'm not sure of Margaret's surname, it's hard to read. However when my Martin ACA Ross died in 1896 (in Vic, Australia), it stated on his death certificate his father was also Martin Ross, not Christian. Unfortunately it also stated mother unknown, so I was unable to confirm Margaret's surname. Kind regards, Sherrie Blackman. Sydney, Australia.
