A few reminders to all listmembers; the address for posting messages to the list is [email protected] , please try to use subject titles that describe the content of your messages, and though humour is always welcome, try to keep the focus of your messages on genealogy. Great to see so much activity! Donald. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Sun, 13 Aug 2000 17:49:40 -0700 From: Julia M. Kasch <[email protected]> To: Ross <[email protected]> Subject: My missing Ross Since everyone is getting on this bandwagon, I shall place my missing Ross on again also. Why not? According to family story, Samuel Ross came to this country with his parents when he was 6 (with or without siblings) on the last ship that left the British Isles/England before the Rev. War began. Great story, but how does one find out what the name of that ship was? I figure that Samuel must have been born @ 1770. Anyhow, he and his parents are supposed to have come to PA. ??? The next time we find him is when he married in 1796 in Bourbon Co., KY to Margaret (Baird) Wasson, a widow with six children. Some people have said that Samuel was also a widower at the time of this marriage. Anyhow, he and Margaret had three sons, William, Thomas and Joseph. Samuel died in Bath Co., KY in May, 1850 and is buried there. I descend from Joseph and I know that his brothers were alive at the time of their father's death because they received their 1/3 share of the estate, but I have never found either of them residing anywhere. Anyhow, that is it. Fini !!! What is it with these Rosses? Why are there so many of them and so many that don't want to be found? Have been working on my genealogical research for 13 years and this one remains lost. It is lightening outside, so goodbye. Julia
