Alfred was born in Kentucky in 1816. He married Honor(also known as Hannah) Chitwood(4th child of Daniel and Anna Chitwood). Alfred enlisted in 2nd regiment, Co. G,East Tennessee Volunteers October 11, 1861 at camp Wildcat, Kentucky. He died December 8, 1861 at his military camp near London, Kentucky. Alfred and Honor's children: Sarah/Sally Ross b1841 m1866 Edward Smith Mary(Polly) Ross b1842 - d1912Tn Joel C. Ross b1847 m1878 Nancy King Catherine C. Ross b1849 m1866 William Thomas Their first child Sarah had a child out of wedlock b1Jun1862 named James Calvin Ross. Sarah,s mother,Honor, was made James Calvins guardian in 1869 after her death. Sarah married a Edward Smith(?) in 1866. James Calvin later married Mollie Strunk. Of their children, Charles Ross b23Jun1862-d4Apr1939 married Lena Chitwood.
