Hi Michelle, Vice Presidential hopeful WILLIAM ROSS (b. abt. 1880 in GA/TN, d. 1908/9 in Coalfield, TN) may very well be related to your family. To the best of our knowledge he was a coalminer, working/living in Coalfield, TN at the time of the birth of his two sons, William Ross (surprise!?!?) and Ronald Ray Ross (my father). Someone in the area who remembers the family said they thought he died in a mining accident, however, we've been unable to locate any mining records substantiating this report. We noticed in the 1900 Morgan County Census that there was also a Marion L. Ross (wife Vera, son Marion L. Ross) and his brother Edward J. Ross. These were both born in TN but we have been unable to track their beginnings or endings either. We were hopeful that they fit into the family as well since our WILLIAM ROSS was said to have moved to the Morgan County area with two brothers. The birthdates of these other two Rosses would have fit that scenario. But, as normal, nothing concrete has evolved from our research. I am very interested in your ROSS family, especially with their involvement with the coal mines. I look forward to hearing more from you and also to know if you show a William Ross in your files.
