I have only ANDREW ROSS and his wife Helen MONTGOMERY (b 1759) in the village of Milntowne or Milton, near Kildary and the Ross seat Balnagown Castle. I have neither siblings nor parents for Andrew . His son JOHN ROSS (b 1794c) continued to farm at Milntowne of Newtarbet and was a Justice of the Peace.He married Newcastle born Jane ANDERSON (1796- 1858 ) whose ancestor Lancelot Errington held Lindisfarne (The Holy Isle) for the Old Pretender in 1714 so bringing the name ERRINGTON to the Ross line up to the present day. (John's sister Elzabeth ROSS b 1796 c lived unwed in his household at the 1851 census..As a widower he died at Ardullie home of his granddaughter Elsie in 1871. Elizabeth died at Woodside Cottage, Kiltearn, Ross-shire 1868 which her brother leased.) They had 6 children :- 1) ANDREW ROSS b 1824 = Marianne GERRARD.Had 2 girls. Elsie ROSS = David Guy FLEMING "Ardullie" near Evanton,Ross-shire. They may then have lived at Rossie Lodge, Island Bank Road, Inverness. George Anderson ROSS said to be the first telephonist in South Africa.... Alexander Panton Smith ROSS b1867 d 6/6/1894 in Johannesburg, South Africa.. Errington ROSS 1871 - 1933 farmer, Castle Heather,Inverness, Scotland = Mary Christina MACKENZIE b1875.whose half brother Douglas was a banker in Jo'burg. Sons Harold & Earle ROSS.Dtrs Eliz.Isabel.Widow remarried John KENT.Earle = Alice WATTON in Crown Point,Indiana in 1919 so family may have lived there prior to Chicago where Elliott worked in railway bridge construction. James Matheson Percival ROSS b1876- 1961.Lived South Africa.d Inverness.=Poly Murdina Macdonald in South Africa.Family still in Jo'burg. William Henry SIM b 1859c = Had 15 children.13 survived.Moved to Tullibegial nr Lake Cargelligo. Lancelot Errington SIM b 1863 CRESWICK d 1934 at Dookie = Margaret BOWIE. d 1937 Helen Montgomery SIM b1865 at Warrenheip,Ballarat = Samuel Johns. Made his living trading with the goldrush participants then farmed ar Ballarat.Crossed the border to New South Wales selected land near Howlong.Sold that in 1871 for land at Dookie & Pine Lodge.Retired to Melbourne.
