Dr. Holland wrote several books. John Ross took his mother's name of Ross. Something happened to his parents, and he was raised by a family whose name was Meeks or Meigs. He somehow got to Pope Co. Ark. and was recorded in the 1850 census, along with wife Rody (born in Tenn.), age 24, and three sons, Tarlton, Alexander, and John. I have nothing prior to this.
