    2. For those of you are not familiar with his history, here is some of it. Its lengthy even though I cut a kagillion paragraphs out. Hope this is helpful to someone. WILLIAM SHOREY-Scotsman-British Interpreter at Ft. Loudoun (died 1762 of comsumption, married GHIGOOIE (a Cherokee woman). Children to William Shorey and Ghigooie: 1. William Shorey, JR died 1809 2. Anna Shorey-(half-breed) married near Charleston at Ft. Loudoun to a Scots trader, John McDonald b at Iverness abt 1747. Children to Anna Shorey and John McDonald: a. Mary "Mollie" McDonald married DANIEL ROSS abt 1785. 1. Lewis Ross mar. Francis Holt, a Methodist circuit rider. She had two brothers who were also known as Methodist "seekers" Children to Lewis and Francis: a. Sarah Elizabeth Ross, died 1824, buried First Baptist Church Cemetery, Calhoun, TN. 2. Jane Ross married Joseph Coody-moved west in 1834. 3. John Ross (Chief) 1/8 Cherokee blood, born Oct. 3, 1790 in Rossville, Walker Co, Georgia, died May 1866-67, Buried Ross Cemetery, Park Hill, Oklahoma. John married Elizabeth Henley Brown, known by her Cherokee name, Quatie. They married 1812-1813 in Turkey Town (tah-na-hoo-yah) Etowah, Alabama. Quatie was born about 1795 in Cherokee Nation East and died on the Trail of Tears, 1839 just above Ft. Smith, Ark. She was buried alongside the road after contracting pneumonia, having given her only blanket to a sick child. She was Chrstian by faith. Her father, a Scottish tader and her mother probably the sister of Cherokee Judge James Brown. John Ross, her husband was first named Tsan Usdi (Little John) and later gained the name of a mythical bird, Cooweeskoowee. John studied at mission of Rev. Gideon Blackburn in Chicamauga and then at the academy at Southwest Point, now Kingston, TN. He joined the military in OCt. 1813 as a second Lt. under command of Colonel Gideon Morgan, Jr. Children to Chief John Ross and Quatie (note 4 sons served in the Civil War): 1. John Ross, Jr. b Nov. 15, 1820, Cherokee Nation East died 1842. Married first Louisa Catherine Means, second to Elizabeth Chouteau. 2. George Washington Ross b Mar. 30, 1830 died 1870. Married abt. 1850 to Nannie Otterlifter in Cherokee Nation West. 3. Silas Dean Ross born abt 1823, Cherokee Nation East died 1872. Married first Elizabeth Raper, second Jennie Sanders, third Nannie Rhoda Stiff. 4. Jennie Ross b May 20, 1821 Cherokee Nation East died 1894. Married first Andrew Ross Nave b 1817, married second Johnathan Meigs. Children to Jennie Ross and Andrew Ross Nave: a. Andrew Ross Nave b abt 1832 b. Henrietta Jane Nave b abt 1855, Cherokee Nation West. 5. Allen Ross b Dec. 26, 1817, Cherokee Nation East died 1891. Married in Georgia to Jennie Fields b abt 1822, daughter or Archibald Fields and Quatie Brown (or) Conrad. (Descrepancy of Quatie's parents correct names). Children to Allen Ross and Jennie Fields: a. Elizabeth Ross b Oct. 14, 1855, CN-East b. William Wallace Ross b July 23, 1851, CN-East c. Emma Ross b abt 1848, CN-East d. Susan H. Ross b abt 1846, CN-East e. Robert Bruce Ross b Aug. 13, 1845, CN-East f. Rufus O. Ross b Aug. 3, 1843, CN-East g. Lucinda Ross b abt 1843, CN-East married Charles Renatus Hicks in 1806. h. Victoria Ross b abt 1844, CN-East. 6. James Ross, (oldest child) b abt 1816, Cherokee Nation East married Sally Manning abt 1834. He died in the Civil War. Note of interest: Rossville Landing Georgia, where Chief Ross was born became Chattanooga, TN.
