>I think the Rosses simply hatched a kid and then threw him out with the bathwater to fend for himself. Must have been a Ross characteristic.< That is so appropeaux! We have a Rice Farrar Ross, who married Sarah Bonham, and "hatched" about eleven children...all with very distintive names...and we can't find his parents either. I was "surfing" one day when I ran across information regarding the Highland regiments that fought during the rev. war. There was one regiment that was in NC, the 72 or 76th regiment of foot, that had a James Ross on the roster. Some of these soldiers ended up in Canada after the war, and there are millions (exaggerating) of Rosses in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I wonder if this is where many of our Rosses were. ????? B.
