Hi Jean and List, For what it's worth, George Ross, Signer, was born in 1730, so I don't see how he could possibly be the father, let alone the grandfather of your James Ross. George had two sons, George and James. George (2) had three sons, Patton Ross, William Bird Ross, and George Washington Ross. Everything I have found indicates Patton and William Bird Ross remained in the Lancaster, PA area until they died, and son George Washington moved later in life to Cumberland County, PA. George (1)'s son James, born in 1753, married Maria Sabina Kuhn in 1769. He became Judge of Concordia Parish, Louisiana Territory. He died in the Orleans Territory in 1808.
