To Hal Ross, It looks like the only thing we have to go on is the fact that our William Rosses had the same names and were born the same year (1820). We always assumed (which is not a word to be used in genealogy) that the Rosses came from Scotland, but by way of Italy, who knows? It sounds too far fetched for there to be a connection. Was your William's middle name Pennel? Robert C.'s wife Wealthy Smith was from the Berk- shires of NY. And did your Ross family settle in West Philadelphia?
