COLLISON were legally joined in marriage as man and wife by me on the fourteenth day of September, 1837. Henry MOSSBURGH, Minister of the Gospel Delaware County, Indiana Divorce Court Mary ROSS versus James ROSS # 132 H and # 84P and #89 I September term 1842 Mary ROSS shows that she was legally married on the 14 day of September 1837 to James ROSS and that her name previous to her marriage was Mary CALLISON and at the time of her ------ she was owner of a quantity of livestock and household and kitchen furniture valued at $200. They lived together as husband and wife in comfortable tranquility for three years on Pike Creek, in Madison County, In the fall of the year 1840 they in the house of the defendant's father. >From that time she received an almost ------ of ill treatment until some time in October in the year of our Lord ---- at which time he voluntarily left her orating his intention of abandonment without any just cause or provocation. He left her to obtain a home wherever she could find one. He took a large quantity of property belonging to her previous to this marriage. She has been a resident of this state two years past in this county. She was a friendly and affectionate wife. She was a fond, faithful and obedient wife ever regarding her husband's happiness as the chief object of her life by all the means in her power. James ROSS has failed to make suitable provisions for his family. She has two female infants born in wedlock and in her custody, one of her fifth year and one in her fourth. September term 1842 Summoned as witnesses John COLLISON, William COLLISON and Polly COLLISON among others In 1844 Delaware County, Court James ROSS is the plaintiff against Mary, stating that she abandoned him and refuses to return to live with him. There are two daughters born October 1838 and October 1839 and he asks for their return I can find no records to show if this divorce was granted or not
