    3. Many years ago I made a list of ministers in and around Ross-shire some with dates. I hope they may prove useful in the current quest for ancestral Scottish ministers. 1662 Rev.Thomas ROSS, Kincardine. 1664 Rev.Thomas ROSS ,Tain. 1714 Rev Walter ROSS admiied to Creich ,Sutherland 1730 Rev Walter ROSS translated to Tongue, 1734 - 1775 Rev John Porteous at Kilmuir Easter. A native of Inverness , his first charge was at Daviot, Inverness. but he found the people there "rabid Jacobite"! 1754 - 79 Rev. George Munro at Farr, Inverness 1756 Rev.Peter Grant - Logie Easter Rev. Donald ROSS , Fearn Rev John Balfour, Tarbat Rev. Joseph Munro, Edderton Rev. John Bethune, Rosskeen Rev. Gilbert Robertson , Kincardine 1758 Rev Hugh ROSS to Rosehall mission 1759 Rev Hugh ROSS to Creich from Ft William mission 1770 Rev Hugh ROSS to Tain. Died 1774. His son Hugh ROSS grandfather of Colonel Ross of Cromarty. Rev. George Rainy tutor to the family of a Kilmuir gentleman he was advised to learn Gaelic and was by 1771 the minister of Creich for 39 years 1790 Rev John Matheson, Kilmuir Easter had a dtr Anne Helen. 1794 Rev John ROSS, Logie -witness at a baptism. . 1809 A fatal fever broke out in the area. 1810 Rev, Rainy died. 1811 Rev Murdo Cameron 'intruded' and the people left.. 1813 -16 Rev. Niel Kennedy, Logie Easter. 1821 Rev. Thomas Munro, Kiltearn. 1843 Rev Gustavos Aird inducted in the open air. 1843 Period of the Disruption in the church., establishment ministers who remained were : Rev. Murdo Cameron ,Creich Rev. Alexander Macpherson, Golspie Rev. James Campbell, Kildonan Rev. Donald ROSS, Loth Rev. John Mackenzie, Rogart. 1887 Rev Murdo Maqueen,Kiltearn expresses disaproval that John Ross was at a dance a few days ago.I think John was the church treasurer.
