You say that, Thomas was born to John and one to James. Do you have any other info. on these men that you can share with me. I have all three names in my family. I sure havent been able to get back that far on my family, but I have been searching for my gr.gr.gr.Grandfather for years. He was James Ross suppose to have been born in or around McNairy Co.Tn. but I cant find any proof. All I know is he may have been born around 1820/25 and that is guessing,since his oldest son and firstborn was John Alexander b.1843/44. Jamed died April 13,1850 between Cassville Mo. and Springfield Mo.(reasons unknown)I dont know and cant find out even his existence. I do know that he married Charity(Charlotte)Baze on Aug.28,1841 at McNairy Co.Tn.according to her own statement in their second child Hiram Ross Mothers Application for Pension. Hiram and John both were in the Union Army in the First Ark.Calvry and Hiram was killed in 1862 at a skirmish at Cassville Mo. Their youngest child was Sarah Jane Ross b.abt.1847/48. All these children were born in Barry Co.Cassville Mo. John was my gr.gr.Grandfather. I would like to find out more about my James Ross,if he had brothers and sisters,who is parents were,and where they actually came from? I really dont know,and it gets frustrating at times, but I will never give up. I can only hope for a miracle now. I have searched everywhere for him. Maybe I am looking in all the wrong places and areas. I hope this can be a lead for me. My Thomas Ross was born at Mountainburg,Ark. abt. 1886 the son of John Alexander. I am very curious to know if my family did come from another area such as Pa..Altho, I have been told all my life that they were from Scotland and we came from a long line of ministers. Also Charity(gr.gr.gr.Grandmother)was in Pa. and whatched President Lincoln give his Gettysburg Address. So she was there for some reason, maybe visiting family or who.Who knows?
