Perhaps this link will help with Reece Ross? http://www.rootsweb.com/~hcpd/norman/ROSS/REACE.htm --Dick Ross ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rick Ross" <richard.ross1@mchsi.com> Sent: Monday, October 02, 2006 1:15 PM Subject: Re: [ROSS] ROSS' of Hardin Co, OH MysteriousCozy@aol.com wrote: > *In a message dated 9/28/06 3:14:08 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > I have a few Ross's listed in Washington twp. I emailed the Logan County Genealogical Society in the hopes that they have some probate for a John H Ross who died 21 Aug 1844 in Logan Co, presumably. They may not have the probate, but according to the 1840 Census he had a son born 1835-1840 and a wife, so one would think that there should be a will or some sort of court documents. I am trying to prove or disprove that my Sullivan born abt 1836 (between 1835-1840 in 1840) is the son of John H. and an unknown wife. In 1850 Sullivan was living with A. H., George H., and a woman named Elizabeth born about 1794 PA. Since the census does not list a relationship, you can see my problem. One could assume Sullivan is the son of this Elizabeth and brother to Andrew H. (A.H.), and George H. Richard Ross
Thank you for the link. I definitely am not connected to this ROSS line after viewing the site. Logan County did respond and I also found that the John H. Ross I was looking at married Margaret Wilson in 1838 Hardin County, OH. No probate found for John and Margaret disappeared or remarried by the time the 1850 Census was taken. Since their son was born after 1838, I believe my Sullivan is not their son, as he was born either 1836 or 1837. Since he was living with a widow named Elizabeth, wife of David Ross, I guess it is safe to say he appears to be their child, although the census does not reflect a relationship to the head of the household. I did find other probate for my James Young Ross which may be helpful in the end with that family. Thanks again.
