    1. Hi - looking for info on John Ross
    2. He was born in 1882 in ( I think) Wallasey, Cheshire, England. He married Ellen McDonnell and had 2 daughters before he emigrated to the United States. One of his daughters is my grandmother who is now 99 years old. He left England in 1910 on the boat the Adriatic and arrived at Ellis Island on Mar. 31, 1910, settling in Mill Plain, Branford, Connecticut, USA and eventually sending money so his wife and two daughters could move here as well. They arrived on the Baltic on May 4, 1912, just barely avoiding the Titanic mishap, and of course, scaring the bejeebers out of poor John Ross who thought he might have lost his wife and two daughters. John and Ellen lived in East Haven and Branford Connecticut the rest of their lives. I don't know John or Ellen's parents names or confirmation on their actual places of birth. I don't think I am listing his birth town correctly or spelling it correctly, as I am using only word of mouth from my grandmother's stories. Any ideas or help would be appreciated! I would like to search back at least another generation or two? Debi T.

    3. Hi Robert; Would you by chance have a Zenas Ross b-1730/50 in your Ross lineage list. He was my 6th gr-grandfather who fought in the American Revolution then migrated to Canada after the British lost to the patriots. He is my brick wall, I have no idea where he was born or when and where he married one Rachel Wright-Holcombe. I have proven my lineage back to him but for the last 8 years or so haven't been able to go any further. I would like to be able to go back further to Scotland. Thanking you in advance for any info you may have... 1. Elizabeth Ross, born Adams Co., Pennsylvania, ca. 1820
    2. E.J.Richards
    3. Dear Ross Listers, I'm new to this list and hope someone out there might be able to help me track down my g-g-grandmother. Her name was Elizabeth ROSS, and she was born ca. 1820, probably in Adams Co., near the boundary to Cumberland Co. Here obituary, from 1896, says she was a life-long Presbyterian. This might mean that she was also a life-long Calvinist - that is, member of the Reformed Church. Ross is either a German or a Scots name. Anyway, one tip is an IGI entry for an Elizabeth Ross, born 11 Jan 1820 and baptized 4 June 1820 at the Upper Bermudian Church, Huntington Twp., Adams Co. - which is near the border to Cumberland Co. which is where her husband, Abram Ziegler, came from. The presumptive father and mother of Elizabeth Ross (born 1820 and wife of Abram Ziegler, whose father was also named Abram) - Joseph and Sara - moved from the border between Adams and Cumberland Counties where they lived in the 1820s to South Middleton Twp., Cumberland Co. in 1850. Following the information in this last census, Joseph was born in 1792, Sarah in 1791. I haven't been able to find out much more than that, but this is better than nothing. Joseph and Sara(h) had four girls, all born between 1817 and 1827, whose births and baptisms are all recorded at the Upper Bermudian Church, and three other children who were living with them in 1850 in Cumberland Co. according to the 1850 census. Now, in the 1860 census for Cumberland Co. there is one Abram Ziegler, aged 65, living in Carlisle, Cumberland Co., with a younger wife (apparently he married a second time, and his second wife is also supposed to have been named Elizabeth Ross as well.) An Abram Ziegler born in 1795 would fit as the father of our Abram Ziegler born ca. 1820. The neighbors of this Abram are Melchior Ziegler, age 24, (maybe a son from the second marriage) and Jesse Ziegler, age 55 (a younger brother). Anyway, if any kind soul out there can unscramble this, I would be very grateful. Jeff Richards Muenster, Germany

    2. Paula Radwanski
    3. Hi, Looking for descendants of Capt. Joseph Ross (d. 1813 Callicoon, NY) and his wife Elizabeth McCoy. They moved from Bound Brook, NJ to present day Sullivan Co., NY. The family cemetery is suppose to be at the "head of the binnekill above Callicoon" ~ does anyone have a listing of these graves and can give us directions on how to get there? Thanks, Paula Radwanski
