I am looking for a ROSS family from Norfolk, England whose son George, possibly George Washington, migrated to Australia before 1851. He married Catherine Johnson from Northumberland, England, settled in Redbank, Victoria, and is listed variously as a hotel keeper and miner. He died in a mining accident in 1862. Any leads would be appreciated. Daryl Ross at dmmfross@hotmail.com
I am looking for any family of JEANNIE ROSS b.Scotland married CLARENCE MARSLAND NY Regenia Campbell bobnregi@verizon.net
Funk and Ross are both names that can be found in southern Tippecanoe and northern Montgomery Counties in Indiana. I've got both of these names in my family tree, but nothing on these particular individuals. I would recommend posting to the Tippecanoe and Montgomery County lists and see what you can come up with there. Also, if John was born in 1812 it is fairly unlikely he was born in Indiana, it didn't become a state until 1816 and was very sparsely populated prior to that time. Unfortunately there were no birth records in Indiana until 1882 so you may never know for sure. > Date: Sun, 12 Feb 2006 15:25:06 -0500 > From: "Roger Peak" <RWP_Genealogy@msn.com> > To: ROSS-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Parents of ROSS, John Wesley, 1812-1854, > OH/IN-IL > > I am looking for the parents of John Wesley ROSS. > John was born on 24 FEB 1812 in OH. I am looking for the parents of John Wesley ROSS. John was born on 24 FEB 1812 in OH. He married Nancy Funk in DEC 1832 in McLean Co, IL. John is recorded in the 1850 census as born in OH; family legend has his birth state as IN. He died in July 1855 in IL. John's wife Nancy FUNK was born in DEC 1815 in Fayette Co, OH, and died in APR 1864 in McLean Co, IL. The couple had 10 children; Margaret, James, Mary, William Henry Harrison, Sarah Ann, Delila Elizabette, Francis Moonian, Martha Ellen, Nancy, and John Wesley. Sarah Ann Ross married James Funk in 1837 in McLean Co, IL. James Funk, brother of Nancy Funk, may be sister of John Wesley Ross. Eleven of their fifteen children lived to adulthood.
Dear Sue My ancestor, Michael Waerlich/Worley, whose great-grand-daughter Nancy Ellen Funk married John Wesley Ross in Illinois in 1832, wrote his will in Hampshire County in 1784, and died in Hardy County in 1785. He didn't move, Hardy County was "erected". in 1785. To further demonstrate that present West Virginia to Ohio was a common migration path west, Michael's grand-daughter and Nancy's mother, Margaret Carr (born 1792 in Kentucky), married John Funk in Fayette County, Ohio in 1814. Keep searching, Paul
I know there are a number of researchers who in the past have been researching this gentleman and his family. Stephen Ross is found in Hampshire County on the 1782 census, with a family of 9, but by 1784 he has relocated. Almost every item I have found on this gentleman infers that he was from or went to Hardy County, then relocated (again) to Ross County, Ohio, where he reputedly dies ca 1814. I am curious and would be so appreciative if anyone could enlighten me to a source of documentation that places this Stephen Ross in Hardy County between 1782-1814. In researching this fellow out over the past few years, I've yet to find anything, with the exception of other researchers genealogical data, that actually could prove that he was in Hardy County. Many thanks... Sue Sue --------------------------------- Bring words and photos together (easily) with PhotoMail - it's free and works with Yahoo! Mail.
Hi, Dean... Nice website. Do you have any idea when your Mary Ross came to America? We also have a Rice Farrar Ross from the approximate area, who is younger than Mary. Rice was born about 1776. We haven't been able to ascertain his parentage either. It could be we're looking at the same family.....or not...:-) ? Brownie MacKie mbmackie123@cs.com Researching Bonham-Ross in NC/SC

This is a new line for me, and I'm hoping that it is an "old" line for someone else out there. I have an Isaac Jennings, b. 1730 Pasquotank Co. NC and d. 1797 same county, who married a _____Ross(perhaps a Sarah?), said to have been the daughter of a Daniel Ross(b.c. 1700)and the granddau. of an Andrew Ross, who, I think, was living in the Ablemarle Dist. of NC c. 1693-4. >From what I've seen on-line from unsubstantiated sources, it would seem that this family spread into Edgecombe Co. NC, however, as there were apparently several Andrews and Daniels in this family(without specific dates), I can't tell exactly how some of these people are actually related(or if they are related<g>). I have also seen that there was a Daniel Ross, who married a Sarah Ricks abt 1725; from the marriage date, if it is right, then my ____Ross might be from them, but I haven't seen any reliable dates on either Daniel Ross or Sarah Ricks(or who her parents were). There was another Daniel Ross(d. 1781)who married a Sarah Ricks(not apparently the same Sarah as mentioned before)and had: Daniel, Ann, Judity, Mary, and Sarah(but no dates). So, if anyone has worked on this line, I would appreciate an assist. Thanks, Larry D.H. Coats

When I use the "contact us" link on this site I get richard.ross1@mchsi.com. I have e-mailed Richard at this address with no problems. I think this person is just trying to put all the information together in an easy to access format. I really don't think he is trying to "steal" information from anyone to resell it or use it for profit. Some of the e-mails sent through this list have been kind of rude. It is very difficult and time-consuming to build a web page like this and I say bravo for doing it. If you don't want to participate, then don't. By the way, if something is posted on the internet, I don't believe that anyone needs permission to link to it from their site. It is out there for the world to see. I am pretty positive that if he is using an old link, once he is contacted, he will fix the mistake. I am not sure which site he is linking to that is yours, but if your are not being given credit for it, then make sure your name is on your webpage so people who access the page from any link know who has created the information. Richard, thank you again for doing this, I appreciate it as do many others. Thank you all for the suggestions and kind words. I have revamped all the pages within the site to make them more "user friendly" and we now have a number of Family Group Sheets available for viewing. They are in Adobe PDF format, therefore if you have not installed an "addin" to your browser then chances are you won't be able to view them. Sorry for the confusion, I am looking for another option to submitting the Group Sheets, but as of now I have not found one, although it may be possible to have a skeleton file which the users can 'copy and paste" into Notepad and then email it directly. I just looked over the website all the links are working fine. I noticed it was built with Flash which may be the problem. Some older versions of Windows have problems with Flash, no biggy that can be worked around by just adding hyperlinks to the different pages. I noticed you already did that on the front page with your email.
