    1. [ROSS] Hewitt ROSS, Delaware, Iowa, Idaho
    2. Jean Masco
    3. Hello, I am interested in hearing from anyone researching the lineage of Hewitt ROSS, reportedly illegitimate son of George ROSS, signer of the Declaration of Independence or George's son David. I would hope to determine the veracity of conclusions drawn about his life. Hewitt reportedly moved from Delaware to Iowa to Idaho during his lifetime. He would have lived between approx. mid 1700s to early 1800s from what I have been told. I have no information about this man yet. Thanks for any replies. Best wishes, Jean Masco

    3. Hi all; To answer the question of message 1, Zenas' sons names were Alexander Wait, William and Zenas II, (and step-son John Holcombe II). His daughters were Sarah Dorcas and Margaret, (and step-daughter Rachel Holcombe who used the Ross name to obtain a Crown Land Grant). 2. I don't know which one of my families has it, but I have a man whose middle name is Lace and it was his mothers maiden name. I will see if I can find it. I had a computer glitch a few months back, so it may take some looking. Spirit

    1. [ROSS] The Lace Middle Name in my Ross family
    2. Joseph Lace Ross was the first son of Edward "Ned" Ross of Barnwell County, SC. Edward, who was born in 1794, moved his family to Conecuh Co., AL in the 1850's and on to Panola Co. Tx in the 1860's. Puzzled by this middle name as it does not seem to be a normal selection for a male child. Edward was married to Elizabeth Jane Butler of SC. She was born in 1804 and was the daughter of Pheraby and Joseph Butler.

    3. Hello all; My brick wall is for my 6th gr-grandfather who fought in the American Revolution, Zenas (os/us) Ross born possibly in 1745 in or around Union, Tolland Co., Connecticut. He married one Rachel Wright-Holcombe, her parents were Simeon and Sarah Wright. Her first husband was John Holcombe Sr. who was killed at the beginning of the Revolution. I have not been able to find out the proper date of birth, location, any other siblings or his parents names. I am trying to trace my clan back to Scotland. Zenas was a patriot and is listed in the Vermont Rev. Soldiers pay rolls. At some time he switched sides and ended up being a spy for the British and at the conclusion of the war he and his family migrated to Canada and being a Loyalist received several land grants from the Crown. Any help of information would be greatly appreciated. Chuck
