    1. [ROSS-L] TN Rosses

    3. Have some additional information on my TN Ross clan. It amazes me at how some have several aka's. It has made finding all of them a bit difficult. Can anyone identify or list possible matches to my first John Ross, father of John Harrison Ross? Also, I have been unable to find this elusive Ross clan on a census. Most information has been found through the original docs in my possession from United Mine Workers of America, death certificates and family interviews, and more through the LDS site. The LDS information has been somewhat confirmed through living members of this clan, i.e. "Oh, yeah, I remember hearing about him or her." Thanks for any linking info, I'm happy to share as well. 3. How near Washington County, Ohio, is Hamilton County. In researching my Rev War Patriot, I discovered there are two of the same name who served from MD the same time in different companies. The Reuben Ross not of my lineage, died in Hamilton Co, in about 1826. Information on his Rev War Pension can be found on the National Archives Film M804- Roll 2088. His information is intermixed from item 104-190. Whether he is related to the phantom David remains to be seen. Marita

    1. [ROSS-L] How David ROSS spent his day, August 20, 2000
    2. Dave woke up after tossing and turning yet another night, 6 feet deep in Muskingum River aluvial soil. He had a restless night thinking about his parents and siblings who are as of this date unmercifully forgotten by all of their descendants, save Peter, who has been valiantly seeking to resurrect their memory and to venerate their deeds and issue. I know it is difficult to imagine the remains of a man who died in October 1826 in Washington County Ohio being in discomfort. But you know, our ancestral searchings and successes may provide succor for those who fell prey to that dreaded irrepressible force- gravity. There are no subterranian pharmacies. The dead need rest too. The best tonic for my 3G grandfather is the knowledge his kin are reilluminated in the bright warm light of consciousness and appreciated once again after over 175 years of existence in an intellectual near-perfect vacuum. Go. Get thee to: http://members.aol.com/fourc/ross.text.html Give Dave the peace he so much deserves and collect 5 or 10 sawbucks from Peter; 5-if you locate his place of birth and marriage and 5-if you identify his parents and help jump the Atlantic to the ancestral homeland. TTFN (and thanks--- you are such a good sport!) P

    1. [ROSS-L] Looking for three Ross ties in my family
    2. Does anyone have information on the following Ross lines..they cross my family on three occasions: 1. Emily Ross b Sept. 7, 1828 died Apr. 11, 1902. She was the third wife to Thomas Ballentine Creekmore who was born Nov. 1, 1823, KY and died Aug. 21, 1911. He first married a Mary Trammel, second to Nancy Deupy, and third to Emily Ross. Need info on Emily's family. 2. John H. Ross b May 12, 1889, Redland, Ohemkee Co, Oklahoma died Dec. 3, 1985 married Beulah Elliott. John's parents were John Alexander Ross born Barry Co, Missouri and Mary Jane Rush. 3. On my Creekmore family line, I find a Martha Rush who died in 1949 living in the household of David Herbert Creekmore (he was born Apr. 22, 1872 in Alma, Crawford Co, Arkansas and married Hannah Louvenis Peters. I am trying to connect the Ross line in #2 to this Martha Rush..and think there is a probability that she may be a sister to Mary Jane Rush above. 4. One more cross in family lines..Jasper Newton Campbell, Jr. born Nov. 27, 1845, died Apr. 13, 1921 married first Mary Taylor, second Helen Ross probably in Kentucky, and third to Elizabeth Harmon. The Campbell family enterwinds into the Creekmore line and the Creekmores into the Elliott line. 5. Jane Meadors born abt 1839 in Whitley Co, KY married J. Calvin Ross born abt 1839, Whitley Co, KY. They had children: Sarah E. Ross b 2/4/1858 John H. Ross born abt 1863 Martha M. Ross b abt 1865 Susan Ross b abt 1868 In this instance, the Meadors line crosses the Davis line, Creekmore line, Batchelor line, Elliott line and Bradshaw line. Sorry if this is all very confusing but I'm with you..scratching my head and trying to fit the pieces together. Any information on any of the above and I will grovel at your feet. Thanks. 1. [ROSS-L] James Osborn(e), William Ross
    2. Sue Petty
    3. Hello List! Decided to put my Osborn(e)s and Ross out there and see if anyone has any info they would like to share. I am stuck at that infamous "brick wall" and could really use some help or direction. My information contains nothing that has been documented, but here goes: JAMES OSBORN, born August 13, 1748 in 0range Co., New York; died Unknown in Lackawana Co., Pennsylvania. He married to ASENATH BRADY (possibly aka Brodie) 1773 in 0range Co., New Yorks, she being born Abt. 1752 in 0range Co., New York; died Unknown in Lackawana Co., Pennsylvania. James is reputed to have been a physician, and might have died between 1820 and 1830 (Census). The 1810 Census for Luzerne County, PA shows 2 James Osbornes and the 1820 Census shows 1 James and a Widow Osborne still within the same township as the previous census. Their Children reputed to be: 1. James Osborne, born July 21, 1774 in New York; died June 12, 1844 in Delaware Co., Ohio; married Lucy Juel Jewell 1799; born June 28, 1780 in Connecticut; died July 30, 1856 in Jasper, Illinois. 2. John Osborne, born Abt. 1777 Sussex County, NY?; died 1816 Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; married Rebecca McCape. 3. William Osborne, born December 23, 1778 in Sussex Co., New Jersey; died date unknown, probably in Wyoming County, PA ; married Elizabeth Holden 1796; born 1782 in Sussex Co., New Jersey; died Unknown. 4. Peter Osborne, born 1780 in Sussex Co., New Jersey; died Unknown. 5. Henry Osborne, born 1782 in Sussex Co., New Jersey; died Unknown. 6. Hannah Osborne, born 1784 in Sussex Co., New Jersey; died Unknown. 7. Polly Osborne, born 1786 in Sussex Co., New Jersey; died Unknown. 8. Betsey Osborne (aka Lydia Elizabeth), born 1788 in Sussex Co., New Jersey; died Unknown, probably in Luzerne County, PA. Married to William Ross, b. Unknown, probably in NJ, d. unknown, probably in Delaware County, Ohio. Children of this marriage are known. Information shows he remarried in Delaware County Ohio in the 1830's and had a son Nathan born to them in the late 1830's. No parentage is known for James Osborn(e) Sr., Asenath Brady or William Ross. I have found other info that some of the descendants of James Jr. ended up in Stark County, Indiana. It is assumed that both Asenath Brady Osborn and Lydia (Betsey)Osborne Ross died in Luzerne County, PA as well. Any help, assistanceor or leads on these families (James Osborn(e) Sr. or William Ross) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! You can find the site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~rkross/. The German page has some useful links, while the others are still under construction at the moment, but you can still send me those links that you have or ones you have found useful in your research. The main thrust for the site was Ross Scottish Ancestry until some kind researcher reminded me that the surname is not only found in that part of the world. Together, maybe we will find a few missing links.
