Hi, Rosses of the world, Does anyone out there have any Rosses from Aberdeen? I've been stuck on these folks for so many moons now that it's not funny! I have Alexander ROSS of Balnagowen (dob, spouse, everything about him, unknown) except for the fact that he had a daughter names Jane ROSS, b ca 1740-45, who married William ROBERTSON, b ca 1735 @ Monymusk, Aberdeenshire, SCT. William was s/o James ROBERTSON of Drumnahoy, Parish of Cluny, Aberdeenshire, Sct.. William and Jane (Ross) ROBERTSON had at least three sons: Andrew, Alexander, and Archibald **(my line). In twenty years I've not come up with one new fact about the ROSS family, so, needless to say, if anyone out there can give me a hint or a clue, I'll be eternally grateful! I have the ROBERTSON's info down to the present, although we daughtered out of the surname in 1863, when my gg grandmother marr my gg grandfather, James MARSHALL. The Robertson name has been used almost continuously through the years as a given name, my father also having been named that, and my younger son is also named Robertson. (Also found a cousin who has the exact same first and middle name as my father, with just a different surname. His grandfather and my grandmother were brother and sister, and I hadn't known he existed. Any help out there??!! If so, I'll remember you forever! Best, Barbara in MO
Before I went on vacation, three weeks ago, I responded to a request for information on Cyrus W. Ross, saying to Leah (BadgerMom1314) that I would send her data after I got back off vacation. I'm back and happy to supply her with a gedcom, but AOL says she is not receiving E-Mail. If BagderMom is still interested in what I have on Cyrus W. Ross, which, incidentally has been generously provided me by another, please contact me. Thor Egede-Nissen

Hello List: Tonite while searching I came across the following info via LDS Online: William Ross, born 14 Feb 1769 in Essex Co, NY, son of George & Elizabeth Ross. Although on separate entries, and with neither reflecting both parentage and marriage, I find the same William (same date and place of birth) shown as having married to NANCY DUNN on 7 July 1796 in Westfield, Essex, NJ. Sources appear to be patron sheets. Actually, it was a fluke that I came across the marriage info. Never seen it during prior searches! Are either of these names familiar to anyone? Am trying to confirm that this is NOT my William Ross who appears to have been born in NJ around the same time frame, parentage unknown!!! Thanks! I have the main line of may family accounted for. I am running into a problem finding dates of birth for members of my Grandfather's Generation. That generation had ten children. I'm missing dates of birth of four children. I am looking for the dates of birth of the children of Alexander Fraser born 12 November 1849 in Inverness and his wife Annie Munro born 11 March 1858. All the children were born in the Parish of Kiltearn, Evanton, Ross-shire, Scotland. The names are as follows: Uncle John Fraser b1878 Hugh Fraser b1880 Grandfather migrated to the States died 1953 Uncle Andrew Fraser b1885 Uncle Andrew migrated to the States died 1956 Aunt Kate Fraser Aunt Lachlina Fraser Aunt Margaret Fraser Uncle Duncan Fraser -I believe Uncle Duncan was the Postmaster in Dingwall or Evanton Uncle Duncan and Aunt Nellie had a son Alexander(Sandy) living in in England. Sandy might be about 70 years of age now. Aunt Violet Fraser b1900 d1978 Uncle Alexander Fraser b1895 Uncle Alec migrated to the States and died 1973 Aunt Dorothy Fraser b 1904 Dorothy retired from government service. Died in New Mexico on her retirement holiday. She is buried in Scotland. I took the liberty of posting this message in two news groups, as the family originated in Inverness. I'd like to fill in the dates of those I do not have, and a contact with Cousin Sandy would be great. Any information would be appreciated. I am looking for information on a Hugh ROSS. He is said to have left Belfast to come to Portsmouth, New Hampshire, prior to 1727. I have no information about where he lived in Ireland or when he was born or what ship he might have taken to North America. Soon after arrival he moved to what is York County, Maine, and from this point on I have some information on this particular ROSS family. I hope someone has some leads on Hugh ROSS. Barbara in Canada

I am most interested in obtaining information regarding John Ross and his wife, Anna/Mary Ann (?) and their descendants. John and his wife had four children that we are aware of: James, Bridget and Patrick who all immigrated to the US, and one daughter Anna, who remained in Ireland and married Charles McGinley. James, Bridget and Patrick lived in Philadelphia. James married Anna McLaughlin and lived in Port Richmond/Frankford, Bridget married Thomas Crumlish and lived in Greys Ferry and Patrick married Hannah Dougherty and lived in West Philadelphia. If any of this sounds familiar, please contact me. Thank you, Kathleen
