Debra, Paul and other ROSS searchers. I have the following which may or may not be helpful. 1. James Ross, d abt 1815 Blount Co., TN, m. Elizabeth Kyle. 2.James Thomas Ross, b 25 Nov. 1808 in Blount Co., TN. d. 15 Jan 1892 in TEXAS Co., MO., m Sarah (Sally) Cook 26 Jan 1833 in Blount Co., TN. 3.John Bartley Ross, b abt 1833 in TN m. JAMES PERRY ROSS, B. 2 Feb 1838 in Tn d 19 Oct 1907 in ELLIS CO., MO. I do not know the siblings of the first JAMES nor the 2nd JAMES THOMAS. The dates seem to be in the ballpark, and the MO could be a connection. The Thomas Ross could be a sibling of either of the James or James Thomas ROSS. I have more on the descendants of the JAMES THOMAS ROSS. in the 4th generation there is a JAMES WILLIAM ROSS, b 05 Oct 1865 in Lincoln NE. d 13 FEb 1937 in Pineville, McDonald Co. MO. in the Southwestern corner of MO. If this rings a bell, holler and I can go further. I have some proof, but most of this is family lore & Bible records. Best wishes and blessings. versy aka Henry Lawrence,

Posted on: Ross Family Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Ross/639 Surname: Ross ------------------------- Hi Susan, I tell you that when I started looking for family I never expected to find so many Ross members!! We are a prolific bunch it seems. The Ross bunch in Mo that I have been searching came in through Clark Co. from W.Va. They did some other moving around in the area I think before winding up in Clinton County. And then some migrated to Oklahoma. I am specifically looking for James B. Finley Ross who married Susanna Cunningham in Wva before moving to Mo. about 1853. He would be my GGGrandfather. They had 9 children and he died in 1865. There are also a Calhoun Ross and Absolam Ross buried in the Tebo Cemetary at Clinton Mo. Both were referred to as uncles. Susanna was born in W Va and I have found a huge amount of info on her and also an heretofor unknown cousin to boot!! But, still cannot come up with the Ross stuff. It sure is frustrating... I am keeping all the Ross info related to Mo in the hope that somehow some of it will tie in when I get further down the road.... I guarantee that any help would be gratefully appreciated. Susan Dry [email protected] ============================================================ Record from "Ross Family History" by J. Montgomery Seaver (1929) Page 22: Prominent British Rosses, Past Generations: Alexander Ross: (1647?-1720); bishop of Edinburgh; in 1678 as admitted to his first charge in the Old Church of Perth; elected to divinity chair at Glasgow; principal of St. Mary's College. With the fall of James II, he became an important figure in ecclesiastical politics; went to London in support of James, but he had already fled. Ross was a man of character, accomplishment and ability; neither on the occasion of the union (1707) nor of the rebellion (1715) did he emerge into public politics. ============================================================ This was previously posted in this ROSS family listing. Posted on: Ross Family Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/FamilyAssoc/Ross/626 Surname: ross ------------------------- Debra, Thanks for your response. The Rev.George Ross had at least one son George Richards Ross who was my GGrandfather. Here are the details Ihave of him. He was born 1810 in Limerick ,son of (Rev?)Henry Ross. Educated in Belfast Academy. Entered Trinity College Dublin in April 1829 and graduated in 1833 with a B.A.He was ordained in 1835for the diocese of Cloyne. (Co.Cork). In 1844 he arrived in Wexford as rector of St Enoch's Church in the village of Killinick. In 1854 he married Eliz. Marianne Richards 3rd daughter of Rev.George Richards of Coolstuffe. They had one son and two or three daughters. She died in 1872 and in 1873 he married Henreitta St. Eloy Hickey daughter of the Rev. William Hickey of Mulrankin, Wexford. He retired in 1880 and died on the 26th of Dec 1884. I see one of the names on your surname list is Willoughby. Whether it's concidence or not I don't know but my greatUncle, the Rev. George's grandson , bore the christian name of Willoughby. Its an unusual first name and though I don't know how they came by it, I feel it must be through a family connection.
Posted on: Ross Family Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/FamilyAssoc/Ross/625 Surname: Ross ------------------------- Debra, I am very interested in the Ross History that you provided for everyone. That is really interesting. I too thought that we were prob from Scotland originally. I am fairly new at this and having trouble going backwards from my bunch in Missouri, Ok. I am particularly interested in the George Ross signer of the Declaration of Independence. It is said that one of my ancestors was a signor. Could George's middle name have been Governor? That is what I have heard on my end but not totally validated. However, I have seen that name among my ancestor list. Any info that would help would be greatly appreciated.
