Hi, I am new to this mail list and am stuck back in the 1830's with this couple Delaware County, Indiana Marriage record James I. Ross and Mary J. Collison were legally joined in marriage as man and wife by me on the fourteenth day of September, 1837. Henry Mossburgh, Minister of the Gospel I need ANY info on what happened to them after this marriage. Thanks for your help Marilyn Hansen
Hi All, Need help finding info on Joseph Ross b. ? d. 1806 Jefferson Co. Ohio. He and wife ( unknown) had sons Jacob and Absalom. Absalom known as first white child b. in Jefferson County ca 1784. Absalom married Anna Hadsell in 1813 and was found later living in Wva. I believe that Absalom is father of James B. Findley Ross my 2nd great grandfather and that he had a sister named Editha who married a Floyd. James went by Findley and married Susanna Cunningham in Wva 1846 and in 1853 migrated to Missouri with some other family members. If anyone has any information relating to any of these folks, or even thinks they do, :) please contact me. I have to have this information in order to proceed back to find my original roots. Thanks, Linda Ross Owings Oklahoma

Hi everyone, Would like to hear from anyone researching this family... Martin August Christian Albert ROSS c.1834 or 1838 - "Ruleben", near Kiel, Holstein Germany/Denmark (depending on what year one is researching :)) Martin ACA ROSS arrived in 1861 Victoria, Australia. Martin A C A ROSS married Isabella CRICHTON (c.1846 Fife Scotland)in Fiztroy, Victoria, Australia 1864. On their marriage certificate, it states Martin A C A ROSS' occupation as a 'Miner'. Martin's parents are: Christian ROSS (occupation:'Gentleman') & Margaret 'Jolinsat' (looks like). Family folklore suggests Martin ROSS may have had 2 brothers & a sister. I have not be able to find them, or ancestors in Holstein. I don't know if my ROSS family were originally from Scotland. Kind regards, Sherrie. Sydney, NSW, Australia.

Hello, Still in search of the following and would love to find family members! Reuben J. Ross b.abt. 1842. According to census records he was born in MO....however, can not find him on any census records prior to 1870. According to census records his father was from TN and mother from AL....can't find either one of them. He married to Nancy Snodgrass Casy/Cazy/Casa in Cooper Co. MO. They had three children: George Emory Ross who married Winnie Vivian Dishion James T. Ross b.abt 1869 married unk. Joseph Walter Ross....my connection. I find them on the 1870 Cedar Co. census and then again on the 1880 Cooper co. census in Saline. In 1880 they also have 3 year old niece Mary E. Powell living with them. She is the daughter of Irvin Powel and Elizabeth Ross. I've been able to track info. on George Emory and of course Joseph Walter but had never been able to find anything on James T. after 1880. Recently I found a guy who fits the bill perfactly and am hoping someone recognizes him. James T. Ross is found in the 1920 and 1930 Benton Co. West Philomath, Oregon census records. He is listed as birth place of MO, birth year of 1869, and both his parents born MO. In 1920 he has two children living with him...Retia Ross age 17 daughter and George T. Ross age 15 son. It lists the children as being born in OK. He is listed as a farm labourer. In 1930 his is listed for a logging camp. The children are not with him in 1930. In 1924 both a George T. Ross and a Rettia Ross married in the county of Benton in Oregon. George married to Hazel Brazeal and Rettia married to Walter Burr Kirby. I believe this to be my infamous long lost James T. Ross....but don't have the concrete proof as of yet. Have not been able to locate a death record for this James T. Ross. I have been working on finding the father of Reuben J. Ross for over 10 years....to no avail. Anything sound familiar? I am searching for any siblings for this ancestor to determine his parentage. Records indicate this family only lived in County Tyrone, Ireland for one generation. As far as I can guess the candidates so far are "Thomas" "John" or remotely "Alexander". There is a naming convention for this family for "Thomas", "John", "Mary" and "Joseph". I have not found any published documentation so far. Any information would be helpful. Regards, Frank Soule [Mother was Mary Ross] On another ancient lineage I received this hint in searching Scottish records. It may be of use. "If I were you I wouldn't give up on your Ross family quite just yet - I think you stand a reasonable chance of tracing them back at least as far as 1600. In some ways Scottish family research is easier than English, partly because they observed very strict naming patterns, so parents and even grandparents names are fairly predictable provided you can find the names of the couple's children (the eldest son is named after his paternal grandfather, the second after the maternal grandfather, the third after the father, the eldest daughter is named for the maternal grandmother, then the paternal grandmother etc.), and partly because women retained their maiden names after marriage, so finding her family is not rules out even if you can't find the marriage." - from a UK research Associate

Hello All, It's been a while since I posted .......... Looking for relations and information on Reuben Ross born before 1740 in ? married Priscilla Green about 1759/1760 in ?. Bible records show their children: 1.Moses Ross b. Sept 26, 1762 in ? married ? died ? He served in the SC military in 1782/4. Was he the same Moses Ross later found in Mecklenburg Co, NC? and still later found back in SC? 2.Elizabeth Ross b. March 16, 1764 in ? (she married Jesse Hilton in SC) 3.Benjamin Ross b. April 10, 1766 in SC or NC. He married Saphira Frizzell in 1794 in Lincoln Co, NC. This is my line. Children were: Reuben M. Ross and Elizabeth "Betsy" Ross. Benjamin and family moved to Burke Co, NC in 1800 and he died in Burke Co, NC in 1843. 4. Solomon Ross born May 25, 1769 probably in SC. Was he the same Solomon Ross found in Rutherford Co, NC in 1820? married to a Sarah? 5. Hannah Ross born June 8, 1771 in SC. She first married a ? Coleman and 2nd married Nathaniel Marion 6. Priscilla Ross born June 16, 1774. I know nothing more about her. She may have died young. 7. Stephen Ross born July 24, 1776 in Clarendon Co area SC. He first married Sarah Baxter and second married the widow Elizabeth Anderson (unknown maiden name. He and family moved to Abbeville Co, SC where he died. He had children by both wives. I'd truely like to know if Reuben Ross found in 1760 in Halifax/Edgecombe Co, NC connected to Jeconias and Hannah Yancey was one in the same as my Reuben Ross, where he came from, who his parents and siblings were, etc..... Reuben may have been dead by 1788 when Priscilla Ross was found on a txa list in Clarendon Co, SC as head of household with one taxable slave. Priscilla was apparently deceased by 1796 when her youngest son Stephen, chose his brother, Benjamin as his guardian in court in Burke Co, NC. At what point Stephen returned to SC, I am not sure but it was before 1820. Any connections anyone? Audrey
