Right now I can't say for sure what part of Ohio my ROSES were from. I need to get busy and try to find a death record for James Monroe Rose - my Sarah Ann's brother. He most likely died in the San Joaquin Valley, California area, in the early 1900s. I can't believe there were so many Pleasant Roses. I thought it was an unusual name, but apparently not. In the 1850 Census- Washington Co, ILL Isaah Rose, age 38, b: ILL Sally Rose, age 35, b: NC Pleasant Rose, age 18, b: ILL James M. Rose, age 14 John Rose, age 11 Another Pleasant Rose, b: 1810-1820(per 1840 census)d: abt 1849, probably Cass Co, IL. He married Nancy Witty , Green County, ILL, aug, 1833. It appears that this Pleasant Rose lived in Cass Co in 1840, as he is listed on the census. Is it possible that this Pleasant Rose was a brother to the Isaah Rose mentioned above? They would have been close enough in age to be brothers, thus explaining why Isaah named a son after him. I don't know..... ******* Now I have another mystery to solve- About 10 years ago, before anyone in my family was interested in family history, a letter of inquiry was received and never answered (shame, shame!) Well, I was given this letter about 4 years too late. The author of the inquiry was deceased in 1996. The subject of her inquiry was our ROSE/BIGGS relation. She thinks that her ROSE line might have been related to mine. But, I don't know anything about her, other than her name. I found her listed on the SS death index - her name was ZOLA YARDLEY. If anyone there knows of this lady, or how to get in touch with any of her family, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks Debbie ----Original Message Follows---- From: "Charlotte R. Don & Bev, try substituting Qwest.net for uswest.net. A friend of mine was with uswest.net, and her address changed to Qwest.net so the same may be true for dirose. I, too, am researching HUTCHINS and ROSE although my ROSES came from Virginia to Ohio. My HUTCHINS ancestors were living in Gallia County Ohio by 1840, but I don't know where they lived before that. My grandmother was Mary Rosalia HUTCHINS who married Lifus Milo ROSE in Ohio in 1902. I do not know of a Montgomery B. ROSE in my ROSEs. Debbie, do you know what part of Ohio your ROSEs came from? There was a Pleasant ROSE who was an uncle of my great-grandfather, Sebird ROSE. This Pleasant was born 15 May 1820 and died 2 February 1806 in Gallia County, Ohio and married Amanda Yingling. Perhaps your Pleasant is a cousin. John was a favorite name for my ROSEs. C.
