In keeping with numerous requests I have decided to take on another List Service. I have initiated a new list at Rootsweb called ROSE-OBITS-L. This will be the place for all of you to key in any obits that might interest the rest of us researching the ROSE lineage. What this will do for us is: 1) Segregate the obituaries from the queries and normal research questions; 2) When archived, it will provide one place to seek obituaries; 3) If you subscribe to the "Digest" mode you will get one message with many obituaries daily; 4) Provide a place for the cross reference to index listings or actual copies of the published obituaries. I ask that you be sure to structure the SUBJECT in the following manner: "ROSE, William (1747-1802), NY". This will make it very easy to view the archived lists and select ones of specific interest. I will be watching the messages and will be critical of those that are "chatty" as opposed to "strictly obits or index excerpts". Please respond to me by private mail at drose@en.com regarding your concerns as to the way the list activity proceeds. Don't respond to the list itself. Let's try to keep this area as strictly a "Research Tool". You can subscribe to either list by sending a message to ROSE-OBITS-L-Request@Rootsweb.Com or to ROSE-OBITS-D-Request@Rootsweb.Com with merely the word "subscribe" (without the quotes) as the only word in the body of the message.
