Cork (North & East) which the centre holds. This site is part of the Irish Family History Foundation's Irish Genealogical Online Record Search System (ORS). The Irish Family History Foundation represents and co-ordinates the network of county based genealogical centres on the island of Ireland. Over the coming months the records of other centres will become available firstly as individual county databases, and then these will be amalgamated into one Irish online records database which will allow searching across all counties and sources. You can then purchase credit to view the detailed records for up to 48 hours. Further credit can be purchased to top up your account. Uh, what am I not understanding here? I registered at the Roscommon site and got this message when I tried to do a search: "Thank you for registering with the Irish Familiy History Foundation. You may now access the free search and can login again using the email address and password you supplied. To view an individual detail genealogy record you will need to purchase credit at a cost of ?10.00 per record. These online databases are an invaluable source in helping you trace your Irish Ancestors. " You have to "purchase credit" at 10 Euros per record in order to do a "free" search? Whaaaaat? Lynne

Lynne--the search is free. It will show you what records exist for the person for whom you are searching. BUT you must buy the credits in order to actually view the record. Withut seeing the record, you really have no idea whether it is the one you want. kathleen
