    1. [ROSCOMMON] QUESTIONS about Ballymintan in 1873
    2. Ballymintan was recorded in the DYSART Catholic parish register as the residence of my great grandmother, JANE MARIA ANDERSON, when she married in Feb. 1873, and also as the residence of her father WILLIAM ANDERSON. It was my family's understanding that her father had died years earlier (and her mother had married a man named GEOGHEGAN, producing half-sister Mary Ann Geoghegan). There are now no family members to ask any more questions of, so I am turning to the list in hope that someone familiar with the Ballymintan area might be willing to offer information or suggestions. MY QUESTIONS #1. Are there records besides parish registers that might be available for Ballymintan for 1873 ? #2. If Jane's parents were NOT living in Ballymintan, a. was there any sort of work that would have supported her there? b. how likely was it that she would have been there without family #3. If the parents WERE living in Ballymintan, is there any way to prove it? #4. What other questions should I be asking? The landlord at one time was apparently named Henry Pakenham and the valuation noted a school in the townland. I wonder whether she might have been employed there in some capacity. I know that the sponsors for her 1st child, WILLIAM MARTIN REYNOLDS (born 1874 in Moher, Ballinasloe,Co. Galway), were the above named half-sister Mary Ann Geoghegan, and a PHILIP SHERIDAN. Philip Sheridan and his wife were both born in Co. Cavan and were teachers, according to the 1901 Census. (Just trying to make the pieces fit together...) Thank you.
