    3. Kathy, They could be related to your Dufficy, since I believe the name is relatively rare, but I just do not know. All I know about my Dufficy ancestor, Francis Dufficy, was that he was born in Ireland in County Roscommon, 'near Strokestown' around 1800. He married Bridgette Lane (her father was Thomas Lane) and they had at least 6 (possibly 7) children before leaving Ireland around 1846. Family lore has it the family fled Ireland via Liverpool because Francis had something to do with the murder of the Land Lord (Mahone?). However, according to the news records Mahon's murder occurred after 1846. I do not know who Francis' parents or siblings were nor do I know exactly what community he was from, although Elphin is a high possibility. He died in New Orleans within 2 years after his arrival in the States. But I have not been able corraborate any of that information. Most of Francis Dufficy's history has been according to the biography of one of his sons, Michael. Because the given names of children are often repeated in families, Francis children that I have identified are: (1) Henry? Dufficy, b. abt 1830 (2) Bridgette Dufficy, b. abt 1834 (3) Jane Dufficy, b. abt 1836 (4) Michael Calhoun Dufficy, b. 1839 (5) Thomas Dufficy, b. abt 1841 (6) Dennis Dufficy, b. abt 1844 I According to Michael's biography, he was one of seven children - but in 1850 census, I could only find the above six children and Bridgette, all living in New Orleans. If any of that helps to link the families, let me know.
