    3. PAT, Don't know if we can help each other but here's my "McDermott" input. My G/Grandmother Jane/Johanna McDermott was born C1840 in either the Boyle area of Co. Roscommon or a nearby village in Co. Sligo. She married my G/Grandfather Jeremiah/Darby Sheerin around 1860. They lived and raised their family in the community of Doon outside of Boyle. The names of the 1st born girls and boys were Margaret & Catherine, and Terrance, James & Michael. I have no family information on Jane McDermott. However, I suspect she may have lived in one of the nearby communities of Co. Sligo close to Doon. She was a widow and living on the farm in Doon during the 1901 Irish Census. I hope we can help each other. Take care and stay in contact. 3. Gentlemen I have just one bit of historical information to toss into the pot. On the Internet I read that the suffix --roe was added to McDermott to identify a sturdy branch which had split off from the main McDermott's. If I recall correctly, both were located in the north of County Roscommon. I don't recall the time frame but, if you use your browser window or google.com, you probably can find when these branches separated. Seems like a worthwhile search so that you can better determine your precise ancestors. Good luck, Rosemary ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Sheerin" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 20, 2003 4:21 PM Subject: [ROSCOMMON] McDERMOTTROE > PAT, > > Don't know if we can help each other but here's > my "McDermott" input. > > My G/Grandmother Jane/Johanna McDermott was > born C1840 in either the Boyle area of > Co.
