Kathleen, I'm not certain if this might help. I know that the Hannons tend to be very much clustered around Roscommon town and Athlone around the time of Griffith's valuation in the 1850's. Also a small cluster near Strokestown and Boyle. There is also an anecdote that there was a village COMMONLY known (not officially) as Hannontown between Boyle and Gurteen in Sligo. It was supposedly a clustering of Hannon families engaged in flax making and linen weaving etc, possibly as early as the 18th century. I haven't been able to document it yet. Let me know if you've heard more about the story. I hope this might of some assistance in finding the right Ballyglass.
