    3. Beirne is also one of my family names from County Roscommon. Elizabeth Beirne is my gr-gr-grandmother. Do you have any information about Margaret that I could compare to Elizabeth and her family? 3. Hi Fran - Hopefully Grace will jump in here on this one. All I know is what I found in the Family Search website. One person has Margaret Beirne as having been born in 1795 in Rathallan, Roscommon, Ireland. She married Michael McDermott in 1819 in South Africa and then again in Ireland in 1822 and died in Rathallan and then buried in Croghan, Roscommon, Ireland. They show her father as Patrick Beirne and her mother as Mrs. Patrick Beirne. That is in the Ancestral File so it is what was submitted by a church member. I don't know what their sources were. The other entries there are variations on this information. The same entries show James as born in 1802 which would not work with the birth year of the mother. 1822 would make a lot more sense.
