Hi Karen, We stayed in Athlone in October with family there, its a wonderful, friendly town. It's in the center of Ireland. I have pictures at a webshot site, I will send you a link to see them. Have a wonderful time!!! and go to the Castle Inn and have a pint for me, and if you go to Glasson (next village) go to Murray's Pub - it's like stepping back in time 50 years!!! Susan
